Alice Huffman and NAACP Region 1 Leaders
The NAACP San Diego Branch held its 34th Annual Freedom Fund Dinner on November 17, 2007 at the Doubletree Hotel in Mission Valley. California State NAACP President Alice A. Huffman brought the keynote address which was overwhelmingly received and inspired all in attendance.
As Chairperson of the Dinner Committee, I noted that previous dinner program booklets had the history of the National NAACP but nothing about the San Diego Branch. I contacted SDSU Librarian Robert Fikes, Jr. to see if he had any information about how and when we actually started, who was involved, past activities, the past presidents, etc.
